April Mystery

I feel I have just finished this month squares in the nick of time.
This month only saw one new square - the flower.
The other four squares are all repeats.
Yes there was another cow.
I really enjoyed knitting the flower.
The strip with the cow is now finished. It is the first strip now finished, a total of 20 squares are done.
Two more days and I should have all the instructions to start the May squares.
I finished three squares before we went away and then I nearly forgot about them.
Lucky I spotted some finished squares on Dawn's blog.
Debbie is already talking about the Mystery Blanket 2009 on her website.

Pinwheel for Miss T.

The Pinwheel sweater in the children size is finished.
I am glad I have another finished project.
I used 245 grams of Peaches and Creme double worsted cotton yarn. I had bought some of the yarn and my friend Johanne had a cone of white.
The pattern is free and available to download.
I enjoyed going round and round in this totally seamless project.

Worn as a hoody.

I had a little trouble following my model with the camera.
I have to think of a nice pin to use as a closure.

Round and round the sleeves

My three projects are all at the sleeve stage. All sleeves are knitted in the round.
The pinwheel jacket is nearly finished. I think this is the first time I knitted sleeves from the top down in the round.
St. Moritz is done in the round from the cuff onwards. I believe I am near the start of the colour work. I must sit down and count rows on the finished sleeve.
I started the first sleeve for the polo shirt. I only finished the cuff and then changed needles. I am knitting them in the round too. That way they make a nice on-the-go project.
I am off to the out of town baby store. I have to get two more stair gates. Somebody crawled all the way upstairs while I was cooking and big sister was doing her homework. I had such a fright when I could not find her anywhere downstairs. Since we moved the master bedroom in the loft we have two flights of stairs. I got the gates to go down about two months ago.
I am amazed that she can crawl upstairs from one day to the next. Tuesday we were safe and on Wednesday she is at the top. Has she practised without us?

Knitting and Traveling

We have been to Switzerland and are back home again.
Both children traveled well and without a problem. I cast on for the polo shirt from the new Debbie Bliss Babycashmerino 3 book as we left London. Remember it is the book with my darling in it.
I cast the top on in the round so I had nice easy knitting during the long drive. I did come to a problem as I started on the front neck opening.
It took me a long time to figure out what is wrong with the pattern. I can't read that well in a traveling car. I found the mistake but in the end I finished the front openings at home.
I now want to knit the sleeves in the round to. I bought some rosewood dp's in Switzerland.
That is if I ever get some peace.
Look who get there first as I tried to take a photo for my blog. She is fast and she will go into a room and start destroying stuff. We now have rolls of unraveled toilet paper.

Noor on the other hand enjoys Switzerland where she can go out and about by herself. She is allowed to go to the bakery and the local supermarket. Sometimes we let her go back to my Mums on her own. She did get stopped by the neighborhood policeman and asked why she wasn't in school. She explained that she was having her Easter holiday and lives in London. He was very impressed by her language skills.
We also managed to get some of the free footballs. Switzerland has been taken over by football fever. Even knitting kits are available.

Pinwheel border

The pinwheel jacket's body has been knitted. Now I have started the long loopy i-cord border.
We are off to Switzerland on Friday. I want this project as my journey project and knit the sleeves.
The big question is, do I count this as one of her jackets she can wear when we get there?
I took the girls swimming yesterday.
It was great fun. Big sister has two weeks Easter holidays from school. I know Easter was two weeks ago. This is one of the years of the holidays without Easter in it.
Miss T. fell asleep whilst we were lunching after swimming.
I should have taken my knitting with me. She really fell asleep as she was eating. She was still holding a cracker. A gluten, dairy free cracker!

Discovering the wheel

I came across the pinwheel pattern whilst on ravelry.
I am amazed that the jacket should fit Miss T from now until she is about 4 years old.
But I am using a cotton yarn, it is easier to wash and will last longer. I am only using two colours so far. I may do the sleeves in different yarn and colour.
I knitted up to the armholes fast and then left it a few days because I could not get my head around the armhole instructions. In the end I used a provisional cast on method I found in an interweave knits magazine.

My time on the computer has been limited by our little Miss. She is into everything, she can get anywhere now, as long as there is something for her to pull herself up on. The printer is good fun, she presses on copy and watches the paper on its way.
I have finished knitting Jude the cardigan but the sleeves still have nit been sewn in. I used to sew during the day and sit on the floor with her. She now tries to help or she goes off and does something and I have to go after her. I am lucky if she naps for 45min.
